All The Vibes: #10
Gosling's part of the Gucci gang, Coperni's spray paint dress and fashionable football
Whether it's runway shows, magazine editorials, social media posts, street style, nostalgic trends, fashion news, brand collaborations, new collection drops or cool ad campaigns; ‘All The Vibes’ will be a place where I let you know all of the fashionable things that should be on your radar.
I’ve decided to make this issue available to all subscribers so you newbies out there can see what goes down in this monthly post on Fashion Tingz. So sit back, relax and enjoy! Let's get into round #10.
Ryan Gosling is now the face of Gucci, and the campaign results are a match made in heaven. Did someone say Gucci gang?
Coperni spray painted a dress on Bella Hadid at PFW, and it's a moment I (along with the rest of the fashion industry) still can't get over. What a way to close out fashion month.
The 2023 Met Gala theme will celebrate late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, someone I have conflicting views and opinions about given he openly fat-shamed people including singer Adele, labelled Princess Diana as stupid, criticised Angela Merkel for opening Germany's border to migrants and said he was fed up with the #MeToo movement.
Grandparents' style in Asia is out of this world. I wonder if I’ll look that cool when I’m older and grey? Probably not.
This will be the last time I talk about Ye in this newsletter because the harmful behaviour he perpetuates has gone so far that it's now dangerous. Not only was his white lives matter t-shirt at his YEEZY Season 9 PFW show a way to uphold white supremacist and fascist ideologies (let's not forget his “slavery was a choice” statement and his pro-Tump Republican stance), but when criticised by Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, global fashion editor at Vogue and major industry stylist, he targeted and bullied her - a fellow Black person in an industry that's lacking prominent Black voices. At least Vogue is standing with her on this. Jaden Smith walked out of the show as did Dazed editor Lynette Nylander because appropriating the language of racial violence with irony has not and never will be okay. Tremaine Emory makes very valid points about Ye trashing Virgil Abloh’s name after his death which is inexcusable, it's about time we stopped giving this narcissist air time he doesn't deserve.
I saw body body body at the finale of the Ester Manas fashion month show, and I loved it!
Secondhand luxury isn't a new concept, but the big luxury players are torn over whether or not to join the trade or completely ignore it. Burberry, Stella McCartney and Gucci maker Kering have started participating in the secondhand market, so it's only a matter of time before others play follow the leader and get in on the act because money talks.
Self-taught fashion designer @avellano_official has perfected the art and craftsmanship of latex in his designs, which has caught the eye of many celebrity stylists. He's become the latex guy, so much so big fashion houses now call on him to design latex pieces for their collections. Bravo.
Football is fashionable now, who would’ve thought? Off-White is joining forces with AC Milan as the club's official style and culture curator.
Streetwear may be finally falling out of style according to The Business of Fashion, which isn't surprising given the last two years saw people confined to their homes and relegated to cosy outfits as there was no need to dress up because you couldn't go anywhere or do anything. But now, as the world has opened up once again, fashion is back baby and it's go big or go home.
FKA twigs closed Miu Miu at PFW, and I’m not mad at it.
For Moncler’s 70th anniversary, 1952 performers (representing the year the brand was founded) danced in the Piazza del Duomo wearing the brand's iconic puffer jackets.
Fashion loves putting people in boxes, but Balenciaga is having none of it. Creative director Demna Gvasalia said of his SS23 show: “I’ve decided to no longer explain my collections and verbalise my designs, but to express a state of mind.” Kylie Jenner, Naomi Campbell, Alexa Demie and Doja Cat (my fave) sat FROW of course - the girls did not come to play.
New Balance is now a vibe, they are having their moment and soaking it in. I mean I, a self-professed Nike devotee, even own two pairs of New Balance trainers which I love. So how did they transition from ugly dad sneakers to stylish must-haves so effortlessly?
We know celebrities do the most at Halloween, so here's a round-up of the weirdest and worst famous folk costumes that are questionable if anything.
