All The Vibes: #14
Rihanna at the Super Bowl, fashion and footballs love affair and an influencer reckoning
Whether it's runway shows, magazine editorials, social media posts, street style, nostalgic trends, fashion news, brand collaborations, new collection drops or cool ad campaigns; ‘All The Vibes’ is a place where I let you know all of the fashionable things that should be on your radar.
So sit back, relax and enjoy! Let's get into round #14.
The mother has returned. Not only did Riri bless us with a Super Bowl Halftime performance look that paid tribute to the late Andre Leon Tally in custom Loewe, Alaia, and MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon sneakers that saw a 4000% search increase after she wore them, she graced the cover of the March 2023 issue of British Vogue and it was truly a family affair. Kudos mama.
Some of my favourite shows from PFW Men's were Dries Van Noten with the drop shoulder blazer that featured lace cuffs, the head-to-toe matching camouflage sequin set from Amiri which kinda screams single rich female, and the fanfare and drama that Rick Owens always manages to bring.
And we can't talk about Men's Fashion Week without talking about KidSuper's guest collection for Louis Vuitton. Did he deliver? Well, he did just that, and some. This was the first LV collection with a dedicated creative director since previous artistic director and Off-White™ founder Virgil Abloh died in 2021, and KidSuper's creative vibe and flair for bringing personality to men's fashion shone through. Some of my favourite pieces from the collection were the cream faux fur luggage bag with silver embossing (totally impractical but fashion crowds will eat this up), and we can't not mention the queen that is Rosalia strutting her stuff and closing the show.
A fake Adidas press release caused quite a stir, and I'm sure the people behind the drama intended to ruffle some feathers and get brands to start taking serious action against fashions' damaging environmental impact. Campaigners are getting creative, and brands need to tread carefully.
There's a shakeup happening in the world of influencing. The big names that used to reign supreme are seeing their status drop ever so slightly and they're losing out to nicher content creators that have day jobs. What does this mean for the future of the influencer? Vogue Business finds out.
I always knew that when videographer and content creator supreme Margaret Zhang took over the helm at Vogue CHINA she was going to create things of beauty, and this cover shoot from the December 2022 issue blew my mind. It was an end of year celebration featuring Chinese supermodel Liu Wen, and everything about it was just done to such a high standard - the locations, the style, and the cinematic style of photography with Zhang stepping back behind the lens to capture this creative concoction.
Fashion and football, football and fashion. This blossoming courtship shows no signs of slowing down just yet, and Arsenal and England favourite Bukayo Saka's debut boot for New Balance is proof of just that.
On the topic of football Dior has debuted its latest tailor-made collection for PSG, and designer Hattie Crowther wants to see football lads in femme corsets.
