August 2022: Best In Fashion
So much is always going on in the world of fashion, from celebrity outfits that go viral to new product drops and brand collaborations, the fashion clock is constantly ticking and it's intriguing to see what will come next.
As always, have a look at my favourite celebrity fashion, street style looks, and the new-in product drops/brand launches that I'm excited about.
Celebrity fashion
Ashley Graham is one hot mama. Underwear as outerwear is nothing new, we all know that - I mean look at the rising popularity of SKIMS - but Ms Graham manages to elevate it and keep it daytime appropriate all in one go. I love the burnt orange colour of the shapewear, and the crisp open white shirt and blue jeans just make the look feel summertime fresh. Throw on a pair of shades and a slicked backed bun, and hey presto, you have a winning outfit.
Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, where to begin? There's making a statement, and then there's wearing Loro Piana hiking boots with a chest-bearing iridescent mesh bodysuit and a flowing, green satin jacket to Beyonce’s album launch party for Renaissance. Donald didn't come to play, he came to party, and he wore one memorable look for the occasion. But if he wanted to be really, really brave, like for real, then he could have swapped the black boxers for a nude man thong, or the other option would have been to go straight up commando.
Riri is back, I repeat Riri is back. Looking as fabulous as ever on a date night with A$AP, her deep navy longline leather jacket with a matching navy bustier top and tailored trousers from Jean Paul Gautier scream “did you miss me?”, well here I am. I love the mini Dior bag moment as well, along with a classic pair of black shades and choker that rounds off the ‘fit nicely.
Street style
There's something about matching sets that's so effortless, so chic, so sophisticated, so put together. After seeing this pic, I was convinced to go ahead and buy myself something similar so I can truly channel a laissez-faire attitude.
Why do I feel like this ‘fit could literally turn this woman into some sort of superhero, kind of like Jessica Alba in the Fantastic Four movies but maybe instead of going invisible she shoots out neon candy? Anyways, that's suffice to say I'm all for this x-ray outfit with chunky boots. Very modern superhero if you ask me.
I'm always cautious about pairing black and white. I know in theory it's a straightforward and easy colour combination, but something about it always throws me a little off balance. But this look, this easy breezy I'm just going to pick up my oat-no-foam-matcha-espresso-shot-low-cal-latte from the independent coffee shop off the corner of Lafayette Street, may have just changed my mind.
New-in product drops/brand launches
The Stussy x Nike collaboration train is going full steam ahead. The Air Max from 2015 is set to drop in a new colourway, this vibrant pink hue, which I'm sure will go down a treat with any Barbiecore fans out there.
Super luxury watch brand Richard Mille has debuted the RM UP-01 in collaboration with Ferrari, and it claims to have the world's thinnest mechanical movement at just 1.75mm thick. This ones gonna burn a hole in your pockets, they'll retail at $1.75 million each and there'll only be 150 units available worldwide.
I’ve been seeing these branded bags all across my IG feed, and it's been bugging me for ages trying to hunt them down. Alas, I've figured it out thanks to New York Times Fashion & Style. Gen Zers are putting their own stamp on L.L. Bean tote bags with phrases like ‘psycho’ and ‘stfu’, and the #boatandtote has racked up more than 1.5 million views on TikTok. What would your bag say?
What celebrity fashion looks have caught your eye recently? What street style trends are you going to try out, if any? I'd love to know what's on your fashion wish list, and any upcoming fashion releases you're excited about.
