December 2022: Best In Fashion
So much is always going on in the world of fashion, from celebrity outfits that go viral to new product drops and brand collaborations, the fashion clock is constantly ticking and it's intriguing to see what will come next.
As always, have a look at my favourite celebrity fashion, street style looks, and the new-in product drops/brand launches that I'm excited about.
This edition is coming at you a little early due to it being Christmas in a few days, so I wish you a wonderful festive season! Let me know what fashionable goodies you get under the tree this year (I’ve bought myself a few so we can exchange notes).
Celebrity fashion
I don't know what it is I love so much about Jason Momoa's outfit, but something about this 'fit sparks the joy in me. Is it the purple pyjama-style set which I'm sure is satin lined? Could be. Or is it the velvet pink jacket, which I'm sure is a Gucci number, that has tasselled shoulders, embroidered patches and turned-up bedazzled cuffs? Could be that too. I would have rather swapped out the leopard loafers for some trainers, but that's me thing. Still here for these vibes.
Rising star Taylor Russell showed up and showed out in this outfit, the killer cheekbones also helped let's be honest. While attending the 2022 Gotham Awards, Russell donned a vintage feather bolero from the Gucci by Tom Ford era paired with a pair of classic Levi's jeans and simple gold heels. This is Y2K nostalgic fashion at its finest.
Pharrell launched his Humanrace brand in Selfridges last month, and he showed up in style of course. Luckily for me, I own a similar leopard print jacket, pair of oversized jeans, hoodies and trainers, all I need is some pearl studded sunglasses and I could be his mini-me. Not such a bad idea right?
Street style
The tones of this outfit shout autumnal vibes, the worn-in brown leather and the khaki cargos definitely feel like the street style outfit of the moment. Throw on a pair of dunks like Marj Moore, and you're good to go
GQ style editor Yang-Yi Goh has to be one of my favourite underrated street style personas on the menswear scene. It can be hard to pull off clashing prints, different textures and mismatched tones, but he does so with this outfit in a way that doesn't feel brash or bold but just feel like he knows his shit and if you get it you get it.
The view is pretty epic in this street style esque shot of Laura Tønder, but to me, the outfit is even better. The different proportioned silhouettes work well together without drowning out each other, and the subtle grey checks combined with the aqua shirt contrast so well with the metallic mirror-style blouse that it kind of makes you wonder who no one else has pulled together such a great look like this before.
New-in product drops/brand launches
This is upcycling taken to the next level. Fashion brand VAIN has created a new McDonald's inspired workwear collection, and it kind of makes me want to get my happy meal on? The 27-piece capsule collection puts high fashion in an unexpected environment, reinventing the familiar McDonald's aesthetics and colour palettes we all know and love.
I'm a New Balance convert, there I've said it. Just don't tell my many pairs of Nikes I have lying around my house. American footwear designer Salehe Bembury has unveiled his 990v2 collaboration, and this definitely gives the iconic dad sneaker brand a luxe streetwear feel. The blush pink hue and the suede material just work.
Polo Ralph, get it? If you don't, I cant help you. This Chip Shop Goods premium heavyweight tee has shot straight to the top of my wish list due to its ironic humour, and the fact it's just cool as hell. Certified garms for the streets fo' sure.
What celebrity fashion looks have caught your eye recently? What street style trends are you going to try out, if any? I'd love to know what's on your fashion wish list, and any upcoming fashion releases you're excited about.
