The Row enters a new luxury era, reproductive rights allyship takes over NYFW and fashions toe fetish is on full display

‘Vibes’ is a place for you to discover all of the fashionable things that should be on your radar.
If you didn’t know you needed to know these fashion tidbits, well, now you know.
It's a place to discover the news you may have missed and peek behind the scenes to see wtf has been going on in fashion recently.
Let’s get into round #33.
Fashion loves an unsung hero and an underdog, because don't we all?
Heritage luxury brands birth iconic designs due to a blend of innovation, necessity, and kind of by mistake.
Unexpected Olympic stars aren't done having their time in the spotlight if glossy magazines and the wider fashion sphere have anything to do with it.
And OG Brat green queens remind us all that sometimes, putting your best foot forward looks like not taking yourself too seriously.
Accidentally on-purpose fashion icons may have us second-guessing who deserves to have a platform and who doesn't.
But if one thing is for sure, it's that when things don't go according to plan, true creativity and innovation strike.
Brand chit chat
Phoebe Philo takes her brand to the streets: Philo’s LVMH-backed eponymous label was originally DTC and online only, but now the brand will be available in select brick-and-mortar stores across Europe and America. Will this pivot from a scarcity drop model to IRL prove successful? Let's see.
The Row's next level luxury era: is The Row the new Hermes? Well, with the owners of Chanel and L’Oréal investing in the ultra-luxe label alongside Natalie Massenet’s Imaginary Ventures and Lauren Santo Domingo’s St. Dominique Capital, this heirloom-worthy brand is being primed for success.
Prada's it sneaker was born on a boat: who would've thought that Prada's Linea Rossa sneaker line has roots in a 172-year-old boat race and Harlem fashion, but here we are. Mr Prada himself needed high-performance gear for a sailing team he founded in 1997, hence the America’s Cup sneaker was born.
News you might have missed
Reproductive rights allyship done right: AREA and Tinder teamed up during NYFW to destigmatise abortion conversations. AREA debuted a range of “Ban Off Our Bodies” shirts with people personally affected by the abortion ban sitting FROW, and Tinder will donate $25,000 to Planned Parenthood.
Fashion is too Western-centric: having worked in fashion for over a decade, I agree with @fashionroadman that the industry is viewed through a very Western-centric lens whether that's schooling or general discourse, and not enough credit is given to POC designers and the wider diaspora.
Literary 'it girls' cultural cool: we have TikTok to thank for the rise of new aesthetics every few weeks, but one I can get on board with is the #litgirl and community being built around reading. It's nonchalant and cool, but more than anything it links fashion to getting down and dirty with a good old book.
Icon moments and eye-roll behaviour
Olympic sharpshooter takes on fashion: remember Kim Ye-ji, the South Korean pistol shooter who went viral during this year’s Olympics? Well, kudos to homegirl who landed not only a photo shoot for W Korea but a glossy spread in Vogue Korea as well. It's giving modern assassin but make it fashion.
Green Lady of Brooklyn walks at NYFW: I've given this icon a shout-out in a previous newsletter, but credit where credit is due because OG Brat green queen @greenladyofbrooklyn just walked her first fashion show at NYFW for Collina Strada SS2025 and we love to see it! Hail to the green goddess.
Toe shoes are everywhere, all at once: this does make me itch a little, but I can no longer deny it, five-finger shoes have infiltrated the fashion scene and they show no signs of going anywhere anytime soon. Is this trend here to stay? Who knows, but I'm squirming my tootsies as we speak.
If you're vibing with this newsletter, subscribe to get weekly doses of fashion goodness straight in your inbox. It’s worth it, I promise.
