It's a place to discover the news you may have missed and peek behind the scenes to see wtf has been going on in fashion recently.
Let’s get into round #35.
Just when you thought celebrity culture had released its toxic grip on the fashion industry, think again.
Reality TV heavyweights continue to parade around in fashion’s upper echelons, clad in luxury nostalgia glamour, which is neither here nor there.
Nudist Gen Z influencer campaigns surprise and delight fashion fans because what’s a better outfit to accompany a new bag release than no outfit at all?
And celebrity tastemakers and trendsetters finally get their fashion flowers from the CFDA, no less.
Every now and again, we see whispers of change: unexpected casting, underdog talent and never-before-seen names gracing glossy editorials and high-spend ads of the industry we hold near and dear.
We breathe a collective sigh of relief, thinking that maybe — just maybe — we’ve moved beyond the cult of fashion celebrity endorsements. But no. They are as ironic as they are real, and they’re not going anywhere.
Brand chit chat
Telfar gets physical: New Yorkers take note, Telfar’s first permanent store is opening in NYC on November 23rd. Located in SoHo, the flagship will be part retail experience and part TV studio that mirrors TELFARTV where shoppers can shoot their own content. It’s giving Black Mirror, but make it fashion.
SKIMS links up with Dolce & Gabbana: the two oldest Kardashian sisters are living out their best Italian “la dolce vita” lives in the new SKIMS x D&G campaign, which was bound to happen sooner or later. The video and visuals by Nadia Lee Cohen are peak nostalgic housewife glamour.
Fear of God is playing to win: Jerry Lorenzo’s Fear of God, aka the new American luxury, has landed a new multiyear partnership with the NBA and WNBA to make fashion fan merchandise bigger and better. These releases will be available globally, solidifying the brand’s connection to sports.
News you might have missed
Emma Chamberlain in the nude: is there any better prop for a new bag campaign than a completely in-the-buff celeb? Well, that’s the route stylist Jared Ellner decided to take with Emma Chamberlain when unveiling the first collection for his namesake brand. I wonder where everyone was looking…
AI can sniff and authenticate sneakers, lol: everyone knows sneakers of all shapes and sizes can sometimes get a bit… whiffy. But Osmo, a start-up that uses AI to map and create scents, plans to use olfactory signature notes to sniff out real sneakers from the fakes. And AI’s takeover continues.
Peter Do exits Helmut Lang: the creative director merry-go-round continues to spin, and its next victim is Helmut Lang’s current creative in charge, Peter Do. After less than two years at the helm, the duo just couldn’t make it work, as the brand tries to claw back cultural cachet and seems to be falling short.
Icon moments and eye-roll behaviour
Market calls out Sweetgreen: after Sweetgreen posted a photo of its new Kale Camo Hoodie that it made in collaboration with Everybody World, Market took to Instagram, letting people know they originally pitched the idea in 2023 and the salad peeps stole it. And Market had the receipts to prove it.
Erykah Badu gets her fashion flowers: even if you’ve never listened to Erykah Badu’s music, you can’t deny that her style is unmatched. So it’s no surprise that she took home the 2024 Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Icon Award, wearing a Thom Browne jewelled headdress no less.
Michaela Stark drops an NSFW 2025 calendar: London-based artist Michaela Stark has once again done subversive artists proud. Working with fellow artist Daniel Del, the duo has crafted intricate floral arrangements into avante-garde corsetry fit for fashion royalty, as seen in a 2025 calendar.
