February 2023: Best In Fashion
So much is always going on in the world of fashion, from celebrity outfits that go viral to new product drops and brand collaborations, the fashion clock is constantly ticking and it's intriguing to see what will come next.
As always, have a look at my favourite celebrity fashion, street style looks, and the new-in product drops/brand launches that I'm excited about.
Celebrity fashion
Penn Badgley's mid-jump for Interview magazine is a sight to see, and a good one at that. Decked out in a Kenzo shirt, vest and shorts with a Cartier watch he looks pretty damn good - but what would Joe think? Outrageous comments only...
You stan, I stan, we stan. I still can't get over Rihanna's monochrome red ensemble that she wore for her Super Bowl 2023 Half Time show performance - which garnered millions more views than the actual Super Bowl by the way, in case you were doubting her influence. Love the breastplate, the Salomon sneakers, and the brooches. Yes to it all.
Doesn't Mr Pitt look oh so cosy? The oversized beanie definitely reminds me of Jamiroquai, but I'm into the mismatched knitted zip-up cardigan which looks super snuggly and very much a DIY piece he bought off Etsy. No shade though as Etsy is full of one-off gems.
Street style
Peekaboo dresses aren't going anywhere as exemplified by Alyssa Coscarelli at NYFW. But this outfit is the winter edition of the popular evening/going out trend, with the soft hair coat from The Frankie Shop layered over a woven Belle The Label dress and paired with chunky boots showing how this trend can be done in a wearable way.
One of my favourite NYC-based fashion and style creators to follow is @wuzg00d, and this Tommy Hilfiger look is exactly why. So we're now ditching pants and I've been wondering how non-celebrities can wear this trend, and through some clever and strategic layering, she nails it. I like how the shirt is only done up at the top two buttons but the tie gradually draws your eye down the outfit, and the tights paired with the Mary Janes is just so good. So so good.
Martha Graeff is bossing it out in Mugler and this is exactly what I imagine I'd wear to a board meeting full of execs who aren't into fashion, can you imagine the looks on their faces? Anyway, I'm here for this fresh take on power dressing. More of this in 2023 please.
New-in product drops/brand launches
And the Stussy collaborations just keep on coming. Two brands which feel more closely matched are Stussy and Levis, and this latest link-up features bold co-branded logos with a smidgen of denim (haha, I kid) and that remarkably street style flair Stussy is known for. The collection dropped this week so it may be sold out already, but try your luck cos you never know, the odds could be in your favour!
These Monster sunglasses by Hellcat eyewear are nothing short of incredible. I'm not sure where I'd wear them, or what with, but I do know they give me very much Tom Hardy from the Venom movies but make it high fashion vibes, and I don't see a damn thing wrong with that.
Last but not least, Dior has teamed up with Mystery Ranch on a bag drop that debuted as part of Dior's Summer 2023 menswear collection. In an era of too many collabs, this one does feel a bit of a reach, but nonetheless, I like how they've fused Mystery Ranch's utilitarian aesthetic with Dior's luxury style.
What celebrity fashion looks have caught your eye recently? What street style trends are you going to try out, if any? I'd love to know what's on your fashion wish list, and any upcoming fashion releases you're excited about.
