Girl-Coded Streetwear + Vamp-Inspired Luxury
Pink palettes aren’t done with streetwear just yet, deep, dark luxury and Carine Roitfeld’s favourite fashion accessory
Welcome to ICYMI, an ad hoc edition of the Fashion Tingz newsletter that's part curated product guide, part events you need to know about, part fashion things you may have missed… and 100% a good time.
As an ex-fashion editor and personal stylist, I see a lot of cool fashion shit floating around the digital depths of the Internet.
Now, this stuff may seem kind of out there, kind of obscure, or kind of boring — it all depends on who you ask.
The mood of these curated guides will ebb and flow depending on whatever’s going on in the fashion realm, and whatever I’m vibing with.
Either way, it’s all that good good.
On today's agenda:
Girlcore football jerseys for the wannabe sports fans
Sunglasses so good you’ll be crying pearl tears
Designer totes that tell you everything you need to know
Iconic fashion personalities Carine Roitfeld and Paloma Faith
And a ton more.
The Girl-Coded Streetwear Edit
I’m calling it, fashions footie hype isn’t going anywhere. Love it or hate it, luxury link-ups and unexpected brand collabs have well and truly infiltrated the footie scene. A personal favourite of mine is this Barbie-inspired Acne Studios football shirt. Love the vibes, hate the inaccessible price point.
This pair of sneakers from Joe Fresh Goods and New Balance is super girlified, and it would seem as if 2023’s ‘year of the girl’ is making its way into 2024. What I like about this style of sneaker is that it’s an early noughties throwback, but is being reintroduced for all the Y2K-loving fashion peeps.
Layered denim, cherry blossoms, fringe detail, flared fit, and overlapped cuffs? This pair of jeans from BAD SON’S ‘OXYGEN’ collection is very under-the-radar brand meets mainstream thrifter meets TikTok trends meets pro-level archival curator — and I mean that in the best way possible.
Thanks to J.Nana Park, ballet shoes have been given a coquette core makeover. The RCA graduate and alumni has patented the shoe design for this Victorian-esque, Black Swan style of heeled ballet shoes, which would look just as good on stage pirouetting as they would paired with cargo pants.
The Dark Luxe Edit
My fashion spidey senses have been on overdrive lately, and word on the street is people feel luxury bags are no longer worth the hefty price tags — which is why many are turning to vintage. If I had ££££, this SS 2008 Richard Prince x Louis Vuitton Duderanch Jokes Tote would be at the top of my list.
I haven’t been able to stop thinking about the pearl tear cat-eye sunglasses from Kimhekim for a while now, and as you can see, they are very, very good — so good in fact, they continue to sell out and your hopes of buying them are slim to none. Still, high fashion Wednesday Addams eat your heart out.
If you didn’t know the Bode x Nike collab was going to have clothes, well, now you know. And I’m into it. The whole collection looks like it's been plucked out of a nostalgic American movie from the 80s, and this cropped tank with sporty pins and badges is sure to usher in those retro summer vibes.
High-street and luxury brand collabs can feel gimmicky. More often than not, some version of a luxury logo is slapped onto something a fraction of the price — and the quality is, well, lacking. But I do like Rokh x H&M’s tailored subtly, and this double-layered trench coat which is very Celine-coded.
You should stop by…
New York: if you’re into Phoebe Philo, and you were very much about the Philo Celine era, then it may interest you to know that Philo’s new, namesake brand will be sold at Bergdorf Goodman - the first and only brick-and-mortar retail space to sell the highly in demand line.
London: after approximately a year and a half, The Deck is a tailor on Savile Row which caters exclusively to women, and they’ve become the first B Corp-certified company on the street. Sounds like founder Daisy Knatchbull went through blood sweat and tears for this certification, but it was well worth it.
Tokyo: I’ve got Japan on the brain as I’m due to head there next week, and when I saw this Instagram video of Asakura Gyaro, aka The Pink House and the pinkest gallery in all of Japan, I thought damn… there’s no escaping pink. I’m into the kitsch pink gore, it’s an overwhelming feast for the eyes.
Over on TikTok…
“I always say in my interviews, what is the best on your arm is not a handbag, it’s a beautiful man, no?”

What does your designer tote say about you? This video from the Selleb Sisters nails it.
Paloma Faith remains iconic, and I love her take on fashion.
