June 2023: Best In Fashion
So much is always going on in the world of fashion, from celebrity outfits that go viral to new product drops and brand collaborations, the fashion clock is constantly ticking and it's intriguing to see what will come next.
As always, have a look at my favourite celebrity fashion, street style looks, and the new-in product drops/brand launches that I'm excited about.
Celebrity fashion
This is croc on croc on croc on croc and I'm not mad at it. Ms Lipa is always making a statement with her wardrobe, even when she tries not to, and this outfit is an example of just that. She's fully entering her diva era which makes sense given her Versace collab, and I’m living for it. It's the gold jewellery, it's the boob tube mini dress, it's the oversized jacket with the pointy heels with the blacked-out sunnies and sheer tights for me.
I kind of love that men are now wearing hoe shorts out and about in public. And if you wanted evidence that this trend is now being adopted by luxury fashion brands, look no further than Jacob Elordi attending the Valentino show in Milan. It's giving very much business at the top and party at the bottom. I like the leather accents, but I would have preferred it if the blazer was an inch or two shorter so the proportions were cleaner.
Bad Bunny's style trajectory is a fascinating example of someone entering their bad bitch era. Did anyone expect Benito to turn up to the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix in a tightttt as tight can be Jean Paul Gaultier top designed to look like the artist is wearing a bikini top and bottoms? I think not. But it does exactly what pop star fashion should do, and that's making a statement that gets people talking. After all, he is the name on everyone's lips at the moment, and this slutty-business-casual-but-make-it-high-fashion look is now firmly ingrained in the public consciousness. Kudos.
Street style
So I'm going to Italy this summer and will be roaming the streets of Milan as well as Lake Como, and when I go this is exactly the type of look I picture myself wearing. I may not be able to pull it off and look as cool as Emili Sindlev does here, but I still think I'll be able to give off rich Italian housewife but make it streetwear vibes. I love how this look pairs something like a headscarf and heels with trackie bottoms, it's exactly my kind of summer outfit.
If ever you want to follow an account that posts good street style pics, then let me point you in the direction of fashion industry heavyweight photographer Tommy Ton. I was drawn to this look mainly because of the Chopova Lowena skirt, because who isn't going to stand behind a design that uses recycled fabrics and deadstock material? It’s called circular fashion, baby, look it up, and this is how you do it right.
Another repeat offender here on the Fashion Tingz newsletter is Rachelle, aka @goldrushrach on Instagram, and that's because I adore her effortless and laid-back style that still manages to look so on trend. I've been racking my brains and I don't know how she does it, but I'm very much here for this Uniqlo meets Carharrt meets East London fashion buff outfit. And I'd never think to pair brown and black together, but she makes it work and I'm taking notes as a result.
New-in product drops/brand launches
I don't think I could publish an edition of this newsletter without talking about Pharrell's Louis Vuitton debut. And if quiet luxury was in, well no one told LV and skateboard P. From pixelated suits to monogram denim to stylised shearling to letterman jackets and a deep dive into the house’s archive, there was a little something for everyone at the Men's SS24 show. The details were also on point - think refreshed pixelated LV trunks, an actual decked-out skateboard, blinged-out boots and new holdall colourways. The show was also a pop culture love affair, with my faves Riri and Rocky seen in coordinating ensembles and a surprise performance from not only Jay Z but also the man of the hour, Louis Vuittons new don.
Is another Martine Rose and Nike shoe collab in the works? Fresh off of Roses' SS24 runway we were given a sneak peek at this design duo's latest link-up, think smart casual sneaker at the front, with the typical Nike Shox design at the back. And while structurally the shoe looks the same as those that came before it, the bright and bold neon colourways and tones have given the shoe a bit of a refresh this time around.
Thought you'd seen the last of Mschf's internet-breaking boots? Well, brace yourselves, because this time round they've launched a new pair and in collocation with none other than Crocs — two OG's unite. TOMM¥ €A$H was spotted in a pair at Rick Owen's PFW SS24 show, stomping around in the never-before-seen Big Yellow Boot. And to be fair, it looked like he was having a great time. This time around the upper part of the shoe has cut-out holes inspired by the classic Crocs style, and don't be surprised if and when these cartoonish caricature shoes hit the shelves they are an instant sell-out. Lolz all the way to the shoe store.
What celebrity fashion looks have caught your eye recently? What street style trends are you going to try out, if any? I'd love to know what's on your fashion wish list, and any upcoming fashion releases you're excited about.
