May 2023: Best In Fashion
So much is always going on in the world of fashion, from celebrity outfits that go viral to new product drops and brand collaborations, the fashion clock is constantly ticking and it's intriguing to see what will come next.
As always, have a look at my favourite celebrity fashion, street style looks, and the new-in product drops/brand launches that I'm excited about.
Celebrity fashion
Women in the sneaker space are taking over and changing the game. And Teyana Taylor has designed a Jordan 1 which pays homage to her Harlem roots, with the sneakers due to be released to the public on June 1st. Now this look may not be for everyone but it compliments the shoes well, with the torn denim and embroidered oversized jacket looking as New York as New York can be.
Leather upon leather upon leather, is there anything Timothée Chalamet can't do? The actor has been spotted out and about roaming the streets of Manhattan as he films with Martin Scorsese, and not many people can pull off leather pants tucked into laced-up leather boots but Timmy manages to do it with ease.
Does anyone remember Carrie Bradshaw's newspaper dress designed by John Galliano that featured in the original Sex and the City series? Well, Emily Ratajkowski's latest street style look is a modern-day version of just that. Paired with knee-high tan boots, sunglasses and a cute over-the-shoulder bag, I think Bradshaw would be proud.
Street style
Cargo denim is the next iteration of cargo pants and I am very much here for this trend. It's giving relaxed, its giving wear with ease, and its giving I look cool, real cool. Savi Chow paired the denim with a cropped leather bomber jacket which makes the look feel very urban and chic.
I loved the look that Rebecca Olivia styled so much that I hunted down the denim vest on Zara and stalked it until it came back into stock, and you know I hit buy as soon as it became available in my size. I'll be wearing it à la Rebecca thrown over a white tee paired with dark pants and sunnies - big summer 2023 mood.
Tania Sarin Araradian nails this look, it's the perfect mix between boss casual and stylish cool. White shirts may feel a little boardroom, but pairing it with this snakeskin print skirt and black leather boots, and the gold hoop earrings of course, say I've got business to attend to and I'm going to look good while doing it.
New-in product drops/brand launches
Supreme knocks out collabs left right and centre, and their latest link-up with Australian brand Coogi takes some of the brand's renowned patterns and signature styles and gives it that very Supreme-esquire feel. The drop looks a little vintage and nostalgic, and I'm sure you could find similar pieces in a vintage shop somewhere, but I doubt they'd have that streetwear Supreme vibe.
May the 4th be with you! Okay okay okay in all seriousness, is anyone else here for these Baby Yoda Air Jordan 4 sneakers by Huy Le? Fans of Star Wars will no doubt flock to this release, the khaki colouring and suede detail are super clean and even if you are not a fan of the franchise you can definitely wear these.
Awake NY has teamed up with Mercedes-AMG and Tommy Hilfiger to create an exclusive motorsports collection which blends street style and preppy vibes. F1 drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell star in the campaign, and it's okay but not exactly groundbreaking.
What celebrity fashion looks have caught your eye recently? What street style trends are you going to try out, if any? I'd love to know what's on your fashion wish list, and any upcoming fashion releases you're excited about.
