Mermaid Grinch Coats + East Asian Inspired Streetwear
Layered-up OTT winter 'fits, unreleased Adidas snakeskin kicks', candy clothing for the girlies and more
Welcome to ICYMI, an ad hoc edition of the Fashion Tingz newsletter that's part curated product guide, part events you need to know about, part fashion places you should visit… but 100% a good time.
As an ex-fashion editor and personal stylist, I see a lot of cool fashion shit floating around the digital depths of the Internet.
Now, this stuff may seem kind of out there, kind of obscure, or kind of boring — it all depends on who you ask.
Welcome to ICYMI.
The mood of these curated guides will ebb and flow depending on whatever’s going on in the fashion realm, and whatever I’m vibing with. Either way, it’s all that good good.
On today's agenda:
Futuristic Nike watches that'll take you back to the future
Oriental-style tattoo streetwear for all the skaters at heart
OTT knitted balaclavas so good your grandma would be jealous
Candy inspired sunglasses that look good enough to eat
And a ton more.
I saw this black 'Dried Concrete' leather jacket from NO FAITH and I gasped. It looks exactly like it's described, like concrete has gathered and moulded into a soft yet structured jacket of monochrome dreams. I could go totally incognito in this... J'Nae where?
Worn by A$AP ROCKY, Zico and CL, THUG CLUB is one brand that's firmly cemented itself in the hip-hop streetwear space. Its unapologetic, it's in your face, and it's a little rude. Good rude. They may take nearly two months to get to your door but these b/w laser-cut jeans will be well worth the wait.
If ever I wanted to wear a watch that makes me feel like I've stepped back in time, then the Nike Triax Black Volt watch would be where I'd go. This sci-fi retro-ish style watch may have come out a few decades ago (now I feel old), but little did Nike know that they were making a watch for the future.
Matthew Williams and Givenchy may be parting ways but that hasn't stopped the designer from giving us a peek of what he's been up to elsewhere. Even though a release date is still TBC, this black pair of Air Force 1 Lows is exactly what I've been searching for. It's giving Kim Possible but make it fashion.
Worn-in, vintage leather is where it's at right now. Not new, not old, but something in between, that's the look the fashion masses seem to be going for. I get it, it’s a good look. And this oversized, boxy fit brown leather number from fashion darling Martine Rose has shot straight to the top of my wish list.
2023's hottest shoe was the Samba. From public transport to your favourite Instagrammers feed... they were everywhere. I haven't succumbed to the bait, yet, BUT if I were to nab a pair, then I wouldn't say no to these unreleased Wales Bonner snakeskin kicks' with the green trim.
Oriental-style tattoo artist Fabio Massashi lends his creative flair to the latest HIGH x PACE collab. Drawing inspiration from the mascots of each brand, dragon and tiger motifs are reimagined to create a nuanced visual dialogue. I'm particularly into the East Asian skatewear feel of this seersucker shirt.
I don't know when it happened but denim suddenly has a chokehold over my wardrobe, but not just any old denim — elevated, contemporary denim of course. I’m in my denim era and I like it here. I also like the crossover detail on these Armor Pants from Kyoni Jr and the frayed seams are vibey.
It's cosy season and if you're thinking about buying a balaclava so you can stay nice and toasty, let me point you in the direction of artist and designer MILA. Have you ever seen anything more outrageously perfect than this hand-embroidered open-face bally? Me neither.
If ever a pair of shoes looked like a leprechaun had thrown up at the end of a rainbow, then this Salomon XT-6 “Mount Siguniang” China-exclusive pair would be those exact shoes. They look like melted sherbet and a kaleidoscopic tube on steroids and I mean that in the best way possible.
This release is for all the kidults — aka me. Gentle Monster has just dropped its "Gentle Jelly" eyewear collection which is playful, sweet, and good enough to eat. Inspired by gummy candy and in a spectrum of pastel tones, the wrap-around silhouette features stars, hearts, and flower shapes. It's cute cute.
Diesel's love of denim has evolved into something grungier and sexier, with a contemporary tone that allows the brand to move beyond its stereotypical image. This mermaid Grinch coat in a metallic, crinkled fabric with faux fur detail is a maximalist delight.
