New Era Fashion Authorities + Sexy Ad Campaigns
The old guard of fashion media is dying, fashion ads get hot & heavy and Bus Auntie is a Jacquemus queen
Welcome to ICYMI, an ad hoc edition of Fashion Tingz that’s part read/watch/listen recommendations, part places you need to visit, part fashion things you may have missed… and 100% a good time.
As an ex-fashion editor and personal stylist, I see a lot of cool fashion shit floating around the digital depths of the Internet.
Now, this stuff may seem kind of out there, kind of obscure, or kind of boring — it all depends on who you ask.
The mood of these curated guides will ebb and flow depending on whatever’s going on in the fashion realm, and whatever I’m vibing with.
Either way, it’s all that good good.
On today's agenda:
Ungatekeeping fashion journalism is on the rise
America’s Next Top Model is in its cancelled era
Skepta is the fashion king we didn’t know we needed
And a ton more.

I am very into physical fashion media, and nothing pleases me more than seeing creators like @thisisantwon sharing gems like this July edition of Go Out magazine which showcases what people in Japan are really wearing.
of The Trend Report interviews fashion writer about everything from trends existing without subcultural context, why Marc Jacobs is so smart, and fashion creativity vs newness. of Market Appointment discusses ungatekeeping fashion and the new wave of independent journalists, podcasters, writers and editors who are taking on legacy media as we crave authenticity and fresh perspectives.WATCH
Here’s an excuse for some fashion-induced screen time…
Every time Corteiz and Nike link up, some type of fashion magic is bound to happen. This time around the dynamic duo has dropped a new film, directed by Gabriel Moses, for the Nike Air Trainer Huarache. The fashion and football hype continues this time featuring toddlers and players such as Chloe Kelly.
Clarks has made a comeback in a big way, and it’s nostalgic for me to see this brand revival as I grew up wearing them in the 90s. The Clarks and Tokyo film, directed by Taichi Kimura, calls on tastemakers in the city and it paints a vivid picture of Clark’s presence on the Japanese streetwear scene.
I grew up watching America's Next Top Model, and Tyra Banks was that girl for a lot of us who wanted to work in fashion… or so we thought. Vice’s new docuseries Dark Side of Reality TV exposes some unfavourable moments from the show, featuring models who had their dreams ruined along the way.

Skepta is doing things in fashion, big things. And we love to see it. The grime MC and rapper hopped on The BoF Podcast, with BoF founder and editor-in-chief Imran Amed, to discuss his brand Mains’ revival, his fashion philosophy and breaking conventions in the fashion industry.
I’ve been following DieWorkwear for a while now, way before he began to climb the upper echelons of social media fame, and I’ve always liked his sassy, satirical humour. ‘The Fashion Expert Twitter Loves to Hate’ podcast episode by ICYMI delves into exactly who this divisive political menswear pundit is.
If you didn’t know, one of my favourite Substack writers
has teamed up with another accolade-worthy ‘stacker (are we calling ourselves that now?) , on a critically and culturally aware podcast. This episode, ‘Glitter Freckles Are Canceled’ is a good ‘un.You should stop by…
The Hague: running until January 26th 2025, Dior has launched an exhibition, ‘Dior: A New Look’ at Kunstmuseum in The Hague. Delving into the brand’s heritage and history, it explores the influence of both Christian Dior and Maria Grazia Chiuri on the house and features previously unseen works.
Tokyo: I’ve had the pleasure of visiting Dover Street Market in Ginza, and it’s exactly as good as you’d expect. The retailer has teamed up with Maison Margiela on a window display that resembles a moody, Parisian evening on a rain-soaked street, with illustrations by manga artist Tite Kubo. Big mood.
Tokyo: Maison Margiela is back at it again in Tokyo, this time in Ebisu, staging an exhibition above its boutique that peels back the layers of original creations by John Galliano. The Artisanal 2024 Exhibition Tokyo runs until November 24th and is a piece of haute couture history.
Over on TikTok…
“Question! What makes shoes more desirable? Men! Sexy men!” Amina Muaddi did that.
Bus Auntie is a national English treasure and bravo to Jacquemus for tapping this queen for a new social campaign <3
