November 2022: Best In Fashion
So much is always going on in the world of fashion, from celebrity outfits that go viral to new product drops and brand collaborations, the fashion clock is constantly ticking and it's intriguing to see what will come next.
As always, have a look at my favourite celebrity fashion, street style looks, and the new-in product drops/brand launches that I'm excited about.
Celebrity fashion
I'm a Halsey fan. I appreciate their candour, creativity and the way they experiment with bold visuals, so I'd expect nothing less than them rocking up to the Tiffany & Co. Lock Collection launch party in Los Angeles in a brown two-piece set from Bronx and Banco’s spring 2023 ready-to-wear collection. Striking, sassy, and totally chic. More of this please.
It really is Wakanda forever. Letitia Wright's look for the premiere of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was a tear-jerker for sure. She honoured the late Chadwick Boseman by replicating one of his early red carpet looks, styled by Shiona Turini in Alexander McQueen this was the look of the night for me. There were some other standout looks though, most notably Michaela Coel in Ferragamo and boss-lady-new-mum Riri in Rick Owens, but Wright's outfit was the one that left an imprint.
Hollywood's elite gathered at the second annual #AcadameyMuseumGala in LA last month (or the month before, I don't know I'm not keeping track), and Squid Game star HoYeon Jung in a full look from Louis Vuitton’s spring/summer 2023 collection, which was fresh off the runway from PFW, was one of my faves. I like the tough, utilitarian edge the knee-high combat boots gave to the outfit, and the lace was well done but not overly so.
Street style
I never knew I needed a pair of silver metallic trousers so much in my life until I saw this picture of Denise Soued on the streets of NYC. Of course, she's got that effortless Manhattan girl vibe down, and of course, she looks so effortlessly put together because she's a stylist. I like it when I see a street style shot that makes me stop and take note, and think about approaching my winter wardrobe a little differently. And this outfit did just that.
If you need a dopamine boost and colourful pick me up, look no further than @wuzg00d's cosy, cute and warm outfit with this peppermint green Artizia puffer jacket the star of the show. But let's not overlook the knitted balaclava and reflective Nikes, or the epic chunky red sunnies and the cleverly accessorised bangles on the bag situation that's she's got going on. I feel like stepping into her closet would be like finding the gold at the bottom of the rainbow.
Cost vibes all winter long, that's the look I'm going for. @goldrushsach's bandana high neck sweatshirt is street wear but make it fashion, and is that a pair of Uggs I spy? Better dust mine off and get them out the back of my wardrobe, much to people's shock and horror I'm sure.
New-in product drops/brand launches
I like a good luxury brand and streetwear mash-up, I really do. Even if they now mostly feel performative and tokenistic, the ones that get it right just get it right. Case in point, Palace Gucci. Maximalist vibes meet skater streetwear chic, this counter-cultural vision definitely had people queuing around the block.
The North Face revealed its second collaboration with world-renowned artist and designer KAWS, and my oh my what a thing of beauty. The second drop from this fashionable linkup is all about the greyscale, the puffer jackets are of course going straight to the top of my ever-expanding wish list.
Market is a brand I've had my eye on for a while now, and one I'm pretty sure I’ll be buying into sometime soon. What I didn't expect was for them to collab with Havaianas US on a pair of puffer flip flops - aka 'the world's first ever fully convertible modular sandal' as they put it. I've never been a part of the flip-flop crew, something about the noise they make when they hit the ground makes me want to hurl, but even I can't deny this unexpected partnership is kind of brilliant. Two pairs of shoes in one? I call that getting my money's worth.
What celebrity fashion looks have caught your eye recently? What street style trends are you going to try out, if any? I'd love to know what's on your fashion wish list, and any upcoming fashion releases you're excited about.
