September 2022: Best In Fashion
So much is always going on in the world of fashion, from celebrity outfits that go viral to new product drops and brand collaborations, the fashion clock is constantly ticking and it's intriguing to see what will come next.
As always, have a look at my favourite celebrity fashion, street style looks, and the new-in product drops/brand launches that I'm excited about.
Celebrity fashion
Tessa Thompson was the it girl at the 2022 Venice Film Festival, and her stylists Wayman Deon and Micah McDonald are in need of a raise as she just keeps on giving look after look after look. We're seeing archival pieces on red carpets more often, and this Armani Privé statement strapless embroidered dress paired with a figure-hugging black sequin skirt is from their autumn/winter 2009 couture show. But what makes this outfit for me is the chunky silver choker - which Thompson tucked her long flowing locks into from behind - and the Matrix style black sunglasses. This is how you nail the red carpet.
I’m into this mint green and bubblegum pink pairing, and the way Jack Harlow and Fergie's outfits subtly go together (whether planned or unplanned). Jack Harlow is a man of the moment in his vinyl Diesel co-ord, and Fergie definitely brings it in her fuchsia pleather midi dress with bright orange fur detailing running along the length of one side. Who can say not to feathers?
The wedding of Simon Porte Jacquemus and Marco Maestri was always going to be one for the books. Mainly because Jacquemus is THE moment right now, and his collections seem to get better and better. Throwing caution to the wind, guests turned up in all white, and Miss Lipa’s sheer white dress with floral beading detail definitely turned a few heads and was my favourite look of the bunch.
Street style
I’ve always had a soft spot for motorcycle and biker fashion, and I’m definitely buying into motorcycle jackets being upcycled and given a fresh lease of life. If you're also in the market for a trend-led jacket for autumn/winter then head to your local vintage shop or thrift store, and mimic Matilda Djerf’s style by keeping it casual by pairing it with jeans and a crisp t-shirt.
At this time of year it’s always tricky knowing what to wear when one minute it’s raining and the next the sun's shining without a care in the world. But it’s also quite a fun time of year, as people become more experimental by pairing summer items such as slinky bias skirts with chunky booths and striped knits. But always, always pack an umbrella and some sunglasses because who knows what the day has in store.
I feel like this last street style outfit has stepped straight off of my TikTok feed but I’m not mad at it. I like the boxy silhouette of the jacket that’s teamed with a neutral knit and checked kilt style skirt, which give me Gossip Girl vibes but make it Gen Z. Nostalgic brands such as Von Dutch seem to also be having a resurgence in popularity, this graffiti style denim one has shot to the top of my wish list.
New-in product drops/brand launches
Bottega, Bottega, Bottega. One brand that can do no wrong in my eyes. Their latest collaboration with the Strand Book Store in NYC left me a little speechless as I, along with many others I’m sure, did not see this one coming. Bottega’s creative director Matthieu Blazy partnered with the infamous book store to reimagine the brand's tote bag for a new capsule collection, combining the luxury fashion houses signature leather weaving with the bookstores iconic logo.
Travis Scott and Nike’s latest Air Jordan release is a women’s exclusive, the monochromatic colour way is one I’m sure ladies will get a lot of use out of year-round. While it's nice that there's finally a trainer release that keeps women in mind, what needs to happen is to create equal access to trainers by making new drops available in a larger range of sizes. Simple really, right?
Dior’s footwear designer @_thibo debuted the first look at the upcoming Dior x Cactus Jack sandals, and I just know the hype beasts and fashion crowds are going to eat this up. The Dior monogram logo and the fleece lining are sure to keep you cosy all winter long. Sign me up for a pair.
What celebrity fashion looks have caught your eye recently? What street style trends are you going to try out, if any? I'd love to know what's on your fashion wish list, and any upcoming fashion releases you're excited about.
