October 2022: Best In Fashion
So much is always going on in the world of fashion, from celebrity outfits that go viral to new product drops and brand collaborations, the fashion clock is constantly ticking and it's intriguing to see what will come next.
As always, have a look at my favourite celebrity fashion, street style looks, and the new-in product drops/brand launches that I'm excited about.
Celebrity fashion
Celebrities were bound to show up and show out for fashion month and that's to be expected. But one of my favourite looks was a paired down affair courtesy of Emily Ratajkowski, her double denim Loewe ensemble was clever, sophisticated, and a little bit sexy all at once. I like the different denim tones, exaggerated (but not overly so) silhouettes and back-to-front button detail, girl did good.
If Mrs Bieber is good at one thing it's nailing a head to toe tonal outfit. Moving into autumn/winter generally means knitwear, layers and oversized shapes and boxy structures, which Hailey does here in a way that's now overwhelming or cliche. Bravo, we like.
Can we talk about Snoh Allegra? Sweet, angel faced Snoh who I adore and someone who definitely doesn't get enough airtime. Dressed in LV for the brand's PFW show, she killed it. Men in tailoring will always be a winner, but women in boxy, clever cut tailoring and luxe fabrics will turn heads. And Snoh is a shining example of the power of a woman in a suit.
Street style
There's so much going on in this street style shot, and I love all of it. The spiked hair, the rounded oversized sunglasses that wouldn't look out of place on a Star Trek set, the striped knit vest with fringing layered over a chocolate brown sweatshirt… Yes to all of it.
Bantu knots? Big yes. Hoops so big you could hula with them? Also yes. Pearly pearls, a crisp white shirt with frilled cut out detail and a faux (I think) snakeskin leather jacket that feels oh-so Y2K? 1000% yes. And yes again.
NYFW street style has been and will always be in its own league, in the best way possible. Thao Ni Le, Miss Universe runner up and founder of a fashion and lingerie brand, was snapped by one of my favourite accounts to follow, @watchingnewyork, and the results speak for themselves. The syrupy caramel tone of the dress combined with the electric blue takes this look out of the 80’s and brings it to the here and now, it's called fashion baby - look it up.
New-in product drops/brand launches
During her second showing at Paris Fashion Week Cecilie Bahnsen debuted a collaboration with sneaker brand ASICS, and the results were stunning. Flower embellishment was a signature design motif, and the ASICS GEL-1130 and GEL-1090 were revamped to feel fresh and fun for spring.
Now this isn't exactly a new product drop or brand launch, but it is one for the books. Some items from Pharrell’s JOOPITER auction have been posted online, and one of my favourites has to be this Alpinestar motorcycle jacket emblazoned with the words ‘Women’s Rights". I can definitely imagine Pharrell wearing something like this before it became ‘trendy’ to do so.
A new brand I discovered, in part thanks to Instagram’s algorithm and all of the ways it works which I’d rather not know about, is young n sang. It's about time fashion, clothing and everything in between became ageless, because unless we've just come out of the womb then everyone is generally always wearing something, and I’d be fine with being dressed in this brand 24/7. I'm also always down for some cross generational advertising, it's refreshing to see people of all ages modelling on the ‘gram.
What celebrity fashion looks have caught your eye recently? What street style trends are you going to try out, if any? I'd love to know what's on your fashion wish list, and any upcoming fashion releases you're excited about.
