As evidenced by Rihanna & ASAP Rocky, The Bieber's too

Couple style isn't anything new. We've seen our favourite stars dress alike for decades, creating entire brand identities and endorsements off the back of some strategic power dressing. Everyone remembers when Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears wore that matching double denim look right? It was magical. And when Katy Perry and Riff Raff paid homage to the canadian tuxedo by recreating the outfit debuted by Timberlake and Spears? Pretty damn clever. Celebrity couples use their outfits to emphasise their loved-up status and flaunt to us mere mortals how happy they are, as well as growing their public profiles at the same time - it's a win-win situation.
When Kimye were a thing (RIP) they set a new standard by completely merging their aesthetics, gaining approval of the fashion elite - Anna Wintour I'm looking at you. And now we have Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Baker channelling punk attire very reminiscent of Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain. When two become one, and celebrity couples start to dress alike, this seems to elevate their couple status, and their individual public personas. There's a power behind uniform dressing and mirroring each other's style, and celebs want to cash in on the act. But who gets it right?
The change makers and trailblazers
Rihanna and ASAP Rocky always bring their A Game, their couple style is unrivalled and unmatched. Each of them have fashionable star status in their own right, but together, they pack one hell of a punch. Their eclectic mish mash of designer pieces and vintage gems is a wondrous sight to see. Whether it's gracing the Met Gala red carpet, shooting a music video, or running errands filling up on gas - they know what they're doing. I'd love to raid both of their wardrobes.
The on-trend luxury types
One couple that springs to mind when I think of keeping up with current trends is The Biebers. Hailey Bieber's stylist Maeve Rilley always keeps her looking fresh, and Mr Bieber's stylist Kara Welch has him following suit. The nonchalant cool-kid, Gen Z vibes they give off must be resonating, as their accessible yet slightly out-of-reach outfits have fast fashion brands ready to replicate knock-offs at the click of a button. One thing that seems to work about what they do is they seem as if they don't care, but I bet they totally do. All that matters is they compliment each other, and they look good while doing it.
The laid-back newcomers
Is anyone else totally into Zoe Kravitzs and Channing Tatums loved up PDAs? Not only that, but their laidback lets-blend-in-with-the-crowd casual wear fits have made them the internet's latest favourite celebrity couple. Bike rides, grabbing a coffee, dining alfresco, their New York love story has them entering coordinating outfit territory. Neutral colour palettes and the effortlessness of their style radiates a simple harmony - not too matchy matchy, just enough to welcome them onto the fashionable celebrity couple scene.
The OG fashion couples
There's a lesson to be learnt from the power of a stylish partnership. Whether intentional or unintentional, planned or unplanned, there's something cool about seeing starlites doing the whole look-alike thing. Cool or corny, but that depends on the outfits in question. From Sonny and Cher, to John Lennon and Yoko Ono, from David Bowie and Iman, to Victoria and David Beckham, the world is obsessed with fashionable couples. Is love always in fashion? I'm not sure. But looking good together sure is.
