2020 was a write-off, 2021 wasn't much better, and 2022 is still shaping up to be somewhat of an unpredictable year.
With all that in mind, what are your fashion hopes for the year ahead? What will you be wearing this year, especially as the world starts to open up again and people are showing up and showing out?
Do you have any fashion hopes or wardrobe goals for 2022? And what would you change this year - within the fashion industry - if you could?
maybe trading clothes with friends? I want to find ways to try new clothes without having to "buy" from anywhere whether it is through traditional retail, online fast fashion, or even thrifting...I have always wanted to try new colors but always go back to my comfort colors...
I love the idea of trading clothes with friends and swap meet-ups, they create more of a social experience and a way to enjoy clothes without having to spend your hard earned $$$. Also its a good way to engage with someones style you admire and facilitate that into your own dress sense! And comfort colours are great, who doesn't have their 'safe' colours and clothes that they come back to again and again? Maybe try baby steps, a new colour explored through an accessory perhaps, and see where it takes you!
jNae this is an interesting question. My fashion goal is to focus a bit more on ethnic and traditional dresses this year.My country India is a land of diversity andvabounding with cultural traditions and I hope to go back to my roots(at least to an extent) in my dress sense.
I love this Ravi! I think connecting with culture, heritage and tradition is such a powerful thing to do through clothing and fashion. Its also a great way to go back to your roots and explore what culture means to you, but it also offers an opportunity for us to modernise and experiment with what culture and tradition looks like through the lens of fashion
Yes as they say fashion repeats itself quite often. We have seen this happening so often when the 70s fashions have become a rage now.So who knows cultural and traditional dresses might again turn out to be the new fashion statement of a new generation. The possibilities are endless.
I usually enjoy shopping for clothes but recently I've been less interested. I think that's because in this not-quite-post-pandemic world, I'm not sure what I'm getting dressed for. Do I need a fancy outfit for a party? Business clothes for an in-person meeting? A Hawaiian shirt for beachside vacations? Without knowing the kind of places I'll be spending time, it's hard to imagine what I should be wearing.
I completely agree - its hard to know what to wear when we don't even know where we're going... Are we working IRL in offices again, or are we co-working at coffee shops? Are we going on dates, going out with friends, or are we still Netflix-and-chilling? Theres the opportunity to liven up our wardrobes a little bit as we (sort of) re-enter the world again, but then we also shouldn't have too if we don't want too. No pressure.
Omg, wearing anything but yoga pants scares me. I feel totally overwhelmed getting back in the saddle again. But I also crave it! My dream is to create a capsule wardrobe that’s comfortable, totally me and also bold and fresh!! Please give me some tips J’Nae!
Capsule wardrobes are a great trick to have up your sleeve! Items that you can interchange and wear again and again, but also items that you feel good in and are comfortable are really important for self confidence - the fun thing is there's no right or wrong, no reason to feel scared/overwhelmed, and if an outfit doesn't work out for you the first time round there's always tomorrow! Gravitate towards items you like and items you know feel very 'you' - then add something else, something a little daring/unexpected, and see how it makes you feel... Fashion is supposed to be fun after all
